In 2021 and 2022 I had the honor to be selected to the Stanford Rising Environmental Leadership Program.

The Stanford Woods Institute hosts graduate students and postdoctoral scholars for a Washington, D.C. Boot Camp. Participants in the one-week leadership program garner first-hand knowledge about national policy development, partnership-building and public service careers. We gained exposure to the realities of policy design and implementation and learn how to connect research to policy and people. 

I was able to learn from scientists working in federal agencies (e.g., USGS), from legislative staff, researchers at think tanks and NGOs about the world of science policy, and policy implementation. Many great connections happened in this bootcamp, and I am now working with some of the people I met to advance environmental policies in the U.S. and beyond!
