Peace education and environmental issues

For >14 years I was a volunteer with CISV, which is a global organization dedicated to educating and inspiring for peace through building inter-cultural friendship, cooperation, and understanding. Founded in 1950, CISV is a federation of over 60 National Associations with over 200 Chapters or local groups. I was a member of the Colombia chapter.

In 2011, the Norwegian Peace corps (Fredskorpset) and the Norwegian Youth Council selected me to join a group 4 young leaders (2 Colombians, 2 Norwegians) to develop the educational content on sustainable development for the organization. We created a booklet called "The Lunchbox" (click on image to read it), and developed a series of educational activities (see below). We created a workshop called "I have a mango" to raise awareness on consumerism, and gave the workshop in over 10 cities with >100 participants.

We did many other activities to raise awareness on environmental issues and peace. For example, the "One day, one dance" for the International Peace Day in Norway. We also organized Earth Hour with WWF Bogotá, and did trainings all over Europe and South America.

I am still very passionate to work with youth leadership, especially at the intersection of peace and environmental issues.
